Mothers Day and Moodswings

Today did not start out as your perfect mothers day... and quite frankly... it hasn't ended well either. It seems as though today was like any other day. Cranky husband, cranky baby and cranky me! ALL THE TIME! This morning Rhya woke up early (around 6:45 ish) for some of you thats late, I know, but for me... who hasn't been sleeping well in the first place, it doesn't start my day out to well. Not that I don't like when Rhya gets up early, I do, just when I have slept the past week. It seemed like all morning (except church) was pick pick pick between me and my husband. I don't know why... well I do... but we won't go into that. Lets just say I don't feel like I do anything right... I'm sure he feels the same way sometimes. Rhya also whined ALL DAY LONG. A few breaks in between to breath

The rest of the day we were arguing about nonsense stuff... leaving me to feel very... alone...

Not the kind of feeling I was expecting to have on my second mothers day.

I have to admit I am jealous of these mothers who say they have the perfect husband and children. Their day couldn't have been more perfect...

I AM grateful for my husband. I AM blessed to have a beautiful, smart, healthy little girl.
It's just hard after a day like today... to feel how blessed I truly am. I am struggling...

I could go on and on about how hurt and upset I feel right now but I know that dwelling on this will only make it worse... I need to take a deep breath... I need to pray for a better attitude and a better nights sleep.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day...

Maybe...

Gardening and a Mothers Day SURPRISE!!!!!

Howdy everyone!!!!! We had such a wonderful week! First of all on Tuesday we were able to finally able to plant in out garden!!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!!! Peas, Potatoes, Green Beans and sweet corn are in!!! We are so blessed to be able to garden! Fresh vegetables are a HUGE money savor! It is also a wonderful way to teach our daughter to appreciate the land the Lord has so graciously given us!

Here are a few photos from of our fabulous evening in the garden!

What a joy to see her father teach her such treasured skills!

Peas!

She is her father's daughter!!!!!!!!! I compared this photo with one of his when he was little... Lets just say she is a spittin' image!

Uh Huh!  You should have see her bath water that night! Photo credit to my sister in law Anita! While I was cutting potatoes, she grabbed the camera and started snapping!

My wonderful mothers day surprise!!!!!!

I had preg checked Ruby when she was about 7 months. Not realizing that some vets can't even feel a calf that age because the calf drops low in the mothers belly. I figured since I didn't feel a calf that she was not pregnant.
Ruby's udder started to form and we thought well... maybe she is pregnant! We watched and waited... thinking if shes going to have a calf it would be closer to the end of the month. I was working at the chicken house trying to create a pen so the chickens could enjoy some sunlight, when I heard a low pitched moo... Not sure what was going on, I glanced down towards the pasture and thought "Thats weird... Why is Ruby protecting a patch of grass..." As I got a little closer I noticed the "cleanings" (afterbirth), grabbed Rhya and RAN towards the pasture. I had to run because we have a steer and heifer that were trying to see what all the fuss was about. There was a chance they would step on the calf during all the excitement and I wanted to make sure that didn't happen!
I ran with an extra 25lbs as fast as I could, yelling for Alan the whole way (I've been told I looked like a crazy woman running through the field with a toddler over my shoulder! I am sure it was quite the sight!!!)
I was so relieved to see this little bundle of joy I almost cried! We are so excited to welcome this little guy to our Red Angus herd!

A few photos for you enjoyment!

First is baby Colson. What a CUTIE! He was so precious and I am so thankful to my friend Sarah (You can read more about her family and Colson's birth story here) for allowing me to practice my "Photo baby" skills! I am no where near a professional in that area but I do love how intricate babies are! Here are a few of my favorite photos of sweet little Colson!

I also had the wonderful privilege of shoot the Weaver family at the Lancaster environmental center. We were planning to meet at the Rockford plantation in the Lancaster county park but there was a wedding. So after driving all over with almost no gas we finally met at the environmental center. Such a beautiful family!
